Elum Energy is a fast-growing company based in Paris with offices in Morocco, South Africa, UAE, India, Singapore, Mexico & Brazil specialized in monitoring & control solutions for solar power plants. Elum technology allows for simple and optimized operations of rooftop solar plants or utility scale ground PV plants coupled or not with energy storage systems (batteries) and in some cases with existing thermal generation units (diesel generators).

Our reference customers are constructors (EPCs) and operators (IPPs) of solar power plants and/or energy producers such as TOTAL, ENGIE, GreenYellow, SolarCentury...

Our technology currently equips more than 1000 solar power plants in more than 40 countries, from 100kWp to 100MWp.

Those plants directly power factories & shopping centers for example, are built to feed into the national grid (Europe), or are built to power remote / islanded cities (Caribbean, South Asia or in some African countries).

Our technology, ePowerControl allows to supervise and automatically control these solar hybrid power plants in an efficient way, and its declination in different by-products allows to manage both "simple" type hybrid power plants in self-consumption and more complex power plants of several MWp in grid injection.

We are seeking a highly skilled Pre-Sales Engineer to join our Pre-Sales team and support commercial activities in the LATAM region, ensuring accurate technical qualification of projects and controlled technical commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze customer technical specifications, including RFPs, Employer’s Requirements, grid code extracts, SCADA, and IT requirements.

  • Participate in technical scoping meetings with customers and sales teams, providing expert advice and clarifications (primarily in Spanish).

  • Define and clarify system scope for PPC, EMS, and SCADA solutions in PV, BESS, and hybrid plants.

  • Identify technical risks, assumptions, deviations, and clarification points before committing to technical solutions.

  • Manage and follow up on feature evolution requests with internal stakeholders.

  • Consult with Product / R&D teams on complex, non-standard, or custom technical topics.

  • Request and monitor development effort and time estimates when required.

  • Review technical specifications and documentation produced by R&D or Product teams.

  • Ensure smooth handover from pre-sales to delivery by maintaining technical scope alignment.

Requisitos

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, Automation, or equivalent.

  • 2–3+ years of experience in renewable energy system engineering or technical sales in a fast-growing environment.

  • Experience with hybrid renewable energy systems (PV, BESS, Gensets), preferably at utility-scale or complex C&I projects.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Hybrid plant operating principles
    • Grid-following vs. grid-forming control concepts
    • Prime mode logic and transitions between energy sources
    • Grid-connected and islanded operation
  • Good knowledge of:

    • Power Plant Controllers (PPC) and Energy Management Systems (EMS)
    • Hybrid energy system architectures and system-level control
    • Islanded operation, black-start, resynchronization, and return-to-grid sequences
    • Active/reactive power control strategies and dispatch control
    • SCADA systems, local supervision, alarms, events, and HMI concepts
    • Industrial communication protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 104, IEC 61850, REST APIs, MQTT)
    • Interface management between PPC / EMS, inverters, BESS controllers, meters, protection relays, and gateways
    • Basic grid code requirements and their impact on control and system behavior
    • IT / OT fundamentals in power plants (networks, segmentation, gateways, firewalls – functional understanding)

Languages:

  • Spanish: Fluent (mandatory)

  • English: Professional working proficiency (required)

  • Portuguese: Preferred

Soft Skills:

  • Strong autonomy and ownership of technical topics and commitments

  • Ability to explain complex hybrid system behavior in a clear and structured manner

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Analytical mindset with attention to operational edge cases and transitions

  • Good IT/network awareness in industrial environments

  • Interpersonal and diplomatic skills to collaborate effectively and build trust across teams
